Infectious Diseases of Poverty is an open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing topic areas and methods that address essential public health questions relating to infectious diseases of poverty. These include various aspects of the biology of pathogens and vectors, diagnosis and detection, treatment and case management, epidemiology and modeling, zoonotic hosts and animal reservoirs, control strategies and implementation, new technologies and application. Transdisciplinary or multisectoral effects on health systems, ecohealth, environmental management, and innovative technology are also considered.

Professor Xiao-Nong Zhou is a Chairman of the National Expert Advisory Committee on Schistosomiasis and Parasitic Diseases, MOH, P.R. China, and currently working as Director of National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, China CDC based in Shanghai, China. His main interesting in the spatial epidemiology of parasitic diseases, population genetics of parasites and its hosts, methmatic modling of parasitism, and medical malacology. He has published more than 100 papers in either international or national journals.
Professor Zhou has been working in reserch and control of schistosomiasis and other parasitic diseases for 30 years, and actively involved in the initiative of the international networks, as President of the Regional Network on Asian Schistosomiasis and Other Important Helminth zoonoses (RNAS+), and acting as the Editor-in-Chief of the “Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control”, Vice Editor-in-Chief of the “Chinese Jouranl of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases”, Associate Editor or Regional Editor for journals of “PLoS Negelected Tropical Diseases” and “Geospatial Health”. He has experience in collorabration with WHO, acting as Co-Chair for the Thematic Reference Group on Envirionment, Agriculture and Infectious Diseases, Adviroy Borad Member for TropIKA initiative, member of WHO Science and Technology Advisory Commettee for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), memeber of WHO Foodborne Burden Epidemiololgy Reference Group (FERG).
