European Journal of Medical Research publishes articles of international interest from all areas of medical research. The main focus of the journal is on clinical research.

Professor Dieter Häussinger M.D, Professor and Chairman of the Department of  Gastroenterology, Hepatology and  Infectious Diseases, University of Düsseldorf.

It is imperative that research is easily accessible and widely available and as a journal publishing key clinical research of international importance it is essential that European Journal of Medical Research  reaches an international author and readership. The move to Open Access publishing should greatly assist in this goal and it is hoped that European Journal of Medical Research will become a key platform for the dissemination and discussion of exciting and novel clinical research.

Within the University of Düsseldorf the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectiology  carries out research into infectious diseases and diseases of the liver. The clinic is internationally recognised for its basic research in areas such as liver metabolism , disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and the pancreas.

Professor Häussinger has been the recipient of the Siegfried Thannhauser prize awarded by the German Society for Digestive and Metabolic Diseases, the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz prize awarded by the German Research Foundation and the Robert-Pfleger research award for outstanding scientific achievements in the research of basic principles and perspectives of medicine.

Professor Häussinger is the author of more than 500 scientific articles and co-editor of ten books, a member of numerous international societies, several special research units, academies, foundations and boards as well as co-editor of scientific journals. He is also a member of the task force groups “Bio Terrorism” and “Influenza Pandemic” of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
