Vascular Cell is an open access journal that publishes original research and timely reviews on recent advances in the understanding of the processes responsible for neovascularisation and pathological angiogenesis.
I feel privileged to be working in this exciting field of vascular biology, and to be associated with the journal Vascular Cell as we move towards the point of a critical understanding of mechanisms of blood vessel formation and function. Armed with this information, and coupled with expertise from multidisciplinary fields such as nano-medicine, genetic engineering and tissue imaging, over the next decade, we should be able to introduce effective new clinical therapies targeting the major angiogenic diseases, which include cancer, heart disease and stroke.
