All fields of research within allergy and asthma are showing explosive development at this time, and it is a pleasure and honour to function as an Editor-in-Chief of a key open-access journal in this exciting field. My own research focus is to study asthma from a clinical and translational angle, to try to understand the mechanisms of phenotypes and endotypes of this complex disease. Indeed, we are just now finding out more and more about the immunology and mechanisms of different allergic diseases, and therefore it is very timely to launch the journal Clinical and Translational Allergy at this time . Furthermore, many novel therapies are being tested in different allergic diseases, and the next decades of research will certainly provide many exciting new studies to the medical community.
