 BMC  BioMed Central author profiles

BioMed Central author profiles feature scientists who are revolutionizing the way in which science is communicated. Their decision to publish in our open access journals is helping BioMed Central remove the financial barriers to effective scientific communication.

As a bioinformatician with expertise in molecular biology I am fascinated by Systems Biology. In our research group, we want to study an organism as an integrated and interacting network of genes, proteins and biochemical reactions. Our research goal is to gain insight in the structure and evolution of these molecular networks through integrative modeling of large amounts of high-throughput molecular data. In our interdisciplinary team we devise new algorithms for regulatory motif detection, data integration and network inference and apply them to model organisms. Together with our wet lab colleagues, we aim at developing a microbial systems biology platform.

To me BioMed Central provides a very useful resource of scientific information as it offers a good overview of what is going on in different disciplines. I particularly like the BMC articles as they often contain original/high quality research and provide a fast reviewing track.
