Structured Document Authoring with Mathematica and Publicon

Andre Kuzniarek

Abstract

Since the release of version 3.0 in 1996, Wolfram Research has provided a structured document interface to Mathematica with an underlying DOM-like tree specification. The Mathematica notebook interface currently writes and renders MathML, and a Mathematica-specific DTD (NotebookML) is mostly completed. Publicon is a stand-alone product that implements these and other useful authoring features into a convenient and modestly priced package. This presentation will demonstrate our current prototype, with emphasis on NotebookML export and conversion to BioMed Central's article XML.

Andre Kuzniarek is currently the Publicon Project Leader and Publications Production Manager at Wolfram Research. He has been a member of the Wolfram Research team for over 10 years, with previous experience in the book publishing industry. Publicon is a Mathematica spin-off product optimized for technical document authoring and is expected to be released at the end of this year.
