Editor’s summary
We investigated and compared the metal accumulation capacity of an adult acanthocephalan (Pomphorhynchus laevis) and larval nematodes of the genus Eustrongylides sp. infecting barbel (Barbus barbus). Our results suggest that, in addition to acanthocephalans, nematodes can also be used as bioindicators for metal pollution. Image: Intestine of a barbel naturally infected with Pomphorhynchus laevis.
