Although nitric oxide synthase 2 (NOS2) is implicated in retinal ganglion cell degeneration in one experimental rat glaucoma model, pharmacologically or genetically decreased NOS2 activity does not impact on glaucomatous neurodegeneration in an inherited mouse model.
