Editor’s summary
A study of the expression of antioxidant enzymes and heat shock proteins of infected red blood cells under normal and oxidative conditions. Exogenous oxidative stress or cultivation of parasites in G6PD-deficient RBCs resulted in enhanced transcription and expression of all genes tested. The outstanding finding of this investigation is that the expression of Hsps was redox-responsive.

Editor’s summary
Neurons governing sexual behavior migrate to the hypothalamus after birth, and experiments on immortalised cells of this type suggest this is regulated by the transcription factor AP-2alpha via direct upregulation of the Adhesion Related Kinase gene.
