Malaria Journal 2013, 12:153 (7 May 2013)
A topic of high importance to the vector control community and reflects recent discussions on the current challenges in malaria prevention and control ¿ specifically, development of new tools for niche transmission settings (i.e., outdoors) where current interventions, such as ITNs and IRS may not be effective.
Safety and efficacy of intravenous infusion of allogeneic cryopreserved mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of chronic kidney disease in cats: results of three sequential pilot studies

Expression profiling of lymph node cells from deer mice infected with Andes virus
BMC Immunology 2013, 14:18 (9 April 2013)
Novel methodology for designing real-time PCR arrays in deer mice indicates that lymph node T cells from those infected with ANDV express mostly genes of the Th2 phenotype but fewer genes of Th1 and Treg phenotypes.

A flea and tick collar containing 10% imidacloprid and 4.5% flumethrin prevents flea transmission of Bartonella henselae in cats
Parasites & Vectors 2013, 6:26 (25 January 2013)
Ctenocephalides felis is a vector for Bartonella henselae and the organism can live in flea frass for at least 9 days. Wearing a collar containing imidacloprid and moxidectin blocked B. henselae infection amongst cats for 8 months. Image: Adult Ctenocephalides felis and frass.

Ivermectin inhibits the sporogony of Plasmodium falciparum in Anopheles gambiae
Malaria Journal 2012, 11:381 (21 November 2012)
This paper describes a novel activity for the anti-filarial drug ivermectin. Ivermectin at sub-lethal concentrations inhibits the sporogony of Plasmodium falciparum in Anopheles gambiae. The results described in this paper have major implications in the design of anti-malarial programmes.
