Editor’s summary
Using this new model design, global forest biomass could be estimated using lidar height measurements recorded on board the Ice Cloud and Elevation Satellite mission (ICESat). Measuring and monitoring forest biomass of global importance as it is a large store of carbon and may mitigate for global climate change.

Editor’s summary
This study demonstrates that mermithid nematodes naturally occur in several adult Anopheles species in Senegal. Mermithid nematodes could be used as a potential biological control agent of Anopheles mosquitoes to reduce malaria transmission. Image: Mermithid nematode from an adult Anopheles rufipes.

Editor’s summary
The Canine Vector-Borne Diseases (CVBD) World Forum is a multidisciplinary group of experts from around the world who meet annually to share the latest advances in the knowledge of CVBDs. From advice on education and diagnosis to prevention and public health, the members of the CVBD World Forum have sought to empower veterinarians through recommendations focused on the day-to-day opportunities veterinarians have to play their part in protecting their clients and communities from the threat of CVBDs.
