Editor’s summary
The greater tendency of An. arabiensis to feed on cattle justifies the application of insecticides on cattle to provide a significant protection from malaria infection. But, An. arabiensis has already developed resistance to the available insecticides, and alternative insecticides are needed. In HIV negative apparently healthy blood donors, prevalence of anti-T. gondii antibodies were 70.29% and 2.97% for IgG and IgM. Editor’s summary
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are significant public health problems in Ethiopia. Ethiopia stands out for having the largest number of NTD cases following Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Sub-Saharan Africa. A third of Ethiopians are infected with ascariasis, one quarter is infected with trichuriasis and one in eight Ethiopians lives with hookworm or is infected with trachoma. To achieve success in integrated control of NTDs, integrated mapping, rapid scale-up of interventions and operational research into co-implementation of intervention packages will be crucial. .
