Early parasitological response following artemisinin-containing regimens: a critical review of the literature

Debashish Das, Ric N Price, Delia Bethell, Philippe J Guerin, Kasia Stepniewska Malaria Journal 2013, 12:125 (19 April 2013)

Abstract | Full text | PDF | PubMed |  Editor’s summary

A literature review of prospective clinical trials of artemisinin combination therapy trials with the aim of determining the incidence persistent parasitaemia after treatment. Although crude, the proportion of patients remaining parasitaemic on D3 has been proposed as a marker possibly signalling the presence of resistance to the artemisinin component of ACT therapy. This is the first published large review of its kind.

Human papillomavirus prevalence among indigenous and non-indigenous Australian women prior to a national HPV vaccination program

Suzanne M Garland, Julia ML Brotherton, John R Condon, Peter B McIntyre, Matthew P Stevens, David W Smith, Sepehr N Tabrizi, BMC Medicine 2011, 9:104 (13 September 2011)

Abstract | Full text | PDF | PubMed | Cited on BioMed Central |  Editor’s summary

Prevalence of high risk human papilloma virus (HPV) genotypes among Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian women is similar, suggesting that higher rates of cervical cancer in Indigenous women may be due to poorer access to screening and treatment.
