Editor’s summary
We assessed the detoxification enzymes associated with permethrin resistance in An. arabiensis using microarray technology. This was compared with data obtained from another pyrethroid resistant strain in which detoxification enzymes conferred resistance to deltamethrin. These differences were compared and discussed. Image: Volcano plot summarising microarray data obtained from resistant versus susceptible An. arabiensis.

Editor’s summary
A survey was conducted to detect ticks and tick-associated pathogens in dogs and cats in Belgium. Next to Ixodes spp., Dermacentor reticulatus was confirmed to be an indigenous parasite. Borrelia lusitaniae and Rickettsia helvetica were detected in Belgium for the first time. Image: Dermacentor reticulatus ticks, collected in the environment of a dog that was repeatedly infested with this species.
