Global malaria connectivity through air travel

Zhuojie Huang, Andrew J Tatem Malaria Journal 2013, 12:269 (2 August 2013)

Abstract | Full text | PDF | PubMed |  Editor’s summary

In the present paper, the authors combine a previously published model of air travel flows with maps of malaria prevalence to generate a global network of malaria export and import due to air travel. They then perform a few analyses on this network to identify important hubs of parasite flow and to identify groups of internally well-connected cities. This provides a valuable resource for strategic planning.
