Editor’s summary
We demonstrate increased virulence (lowered LD50 and LT50 values as compared to the wild-type parent strain) towards Anopheles gambiae using the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, transformed to express trypsin modulating oostatic factor (TMOF) derived from A. aegypti. In addition, the developed strain resulted in >60% decrease in fecundity of infected females. Image: A. gambiae infected with B. bassiana.
