Editor’s summary
In this study we conclude that only a single interbreeding population of Ascaris exists, infecting both humans and pigs. Thus, we recommend synonymizing the two existing species with the name Ascaris lumbricoides. Image: Close relationships favored parasite transfer - woman breastfeeding a wild pig

Editor’s summary
Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver are well-known modifiers of drugs and toxic agents, with the result that if their activity is different in infected compared to normal hosts the metabolism and, therefore, activity and toxicity, of, for example, antimalarial drugs will be different. Therefore their in sense in understanding how malarial infection affects the activity of these enzymes.
