Editor’s summary
A systematic review assessing published evidence for the cooling effect of wooded riparian zones on stream temperature. Temperature is known to affect life-histories of many aquatic species and is therefore a significant factor in the stream biotic community. Investment in wooded riparian zones may provide benefits in terms of mitigating effects of climate change on water temperature.
