Receiving content from BioMed Central as an RSS headline feed

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a well-established web standard for the delivery of news headlines and other frequently updated content summaries.

There are many different news headline readers to choose from which will regularly retrieve the latest items from your favorite RSS-enabled sites and display them on your desktop:

Google's personalized home pageThere are also several web sites such as NewsIsFree, Bloglines which allow you to create a personalized web home page incorporating your choice of news feeds. Google allows you to incorporate RSS feeds onto a personalized homepage (see right), and also offers a more sophisticated web based tool (Google Reader) for viewing RSS feeds. It is even possible to download RSS feeds to an iPod using software such as iPod Agent.

In addition, if you run your own website, you can write code to take the latest information from BioMed Central's RSS feeds and display it on your own site.

RSS feeds for BioMed Central journal articles

For any BioMed Central journal, you can access the RSS feed of the latest articles just by adding /rss/ onto the journal URL.
e.g.

  • http://genomebiology.com/rss/
  • http://www.malariajournal.com/rss/

Or use the button that appears on the journal home page - in many cases you can drag and drop this link onto your RSS-reading software, to use the feed. If your RSS reader supports the OPML format for lists of feeds, you can import a list of all BioMed Central's journal article feeds.
