NIH open access policy takes effect
The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy now requires all peer-reviewed articles funded by NIH to be deposited in the PubMed Central archive, and to be made freely available within a year of publication.

BMC Public Health is the first medical journal in the BMC-series to reach this symbolic milestone. The publication is ranked by SCImago in the top quarter of public health journals and its articles have been cited nearly 2,500 times.
 
JMCR Award
BioMed Central has introduced an additional prize to the BioMed Central Research Awards - the Journal of Medical Case Reports Award for Best Case Report. Nominations close on 8 February 2008.
