Journal of Circadian Rhythms
considers articles of both basic and applied research dealing with circadian rhythms in living organisms at all levels of biological organization.
Roberto Refinetti launched his journal with BioMed Central in October 2003.
"As with many other progressive
fields of scientific inquiry, the study of circadian
rhythms experienced enormous growth in the recent
past. Journal of Circadian Rhythms takes
advantage of BioMed Central's experience of launching
over 100 online journals to advance the publication
of research on circadian rhythms into the 21st
century by making the results of circadian research
freely and universally available online to readers
worldwide"

A short biography
Roberto Refinetti received his doctoral degree
in biopsychology from the University of California
at Santa Barbara in 1987 and conducted postdoctoral
research at the Center for Biological Timing at
the University of Virginia. His research program
in circadian physiology, which concentrates on
the integration of circadian and homeostatic mechanisms,
has been funded by the National Science Foundation
and the National Institutes of Health, and has
led to the publication of over 200 articles in
professional journals. In 1996 he launched his
laboratory's web site (www.circadian.org); in
2000 he published the book Circadian Physiology
(CRC Press, 2000); and in 2003 he spearheaded
the creation of the Journal of Circadian Rhythms
as its Editor-in-Chief.
