BMC  BMC Developmental Biology - Image highlight

We are delighted to announce the winner of BMC Developmental Biology's Image of the Year. Congratulations to W Scott Argraves and colleagues from the Medical University of South Carolina, whose image showing a wild-type mouse embryo 9.5 days post coitum was selected by the BMC Developmental Biology editorial team. BMC Developmental Biology's Image of the Year was chosen from the archive of BMC Developmental Biology Image of the Month, launched in 2005.

Image of the Year

Wild-type mouse embryo 9.5 days post coitum. To assess the effect of targeted cubilin knockdown on blood vessel formation, embryos were immunolabeled with anti-PECAM-1, an endothelial cell marker. Cubilin-deficient embryos display developmental retardation and do not advance morphologically beyond the appearance of WT 8-8.5 dpc embryos.
