Incomplete functional recovery after delirium in elderly people: a prospective cohort study Melissa K Andrew, Susan H Freter, Kenneth Rockwood BMC Geriatrics 2005, 5:5 (17 March 2005) Nearly a third of elderly patients with delirium died after 6 months and over half of those who survived had incomplete functional recovery; pre-existing frailty, a cardiac cause for the delirium, and late recognition by physicians predicted worse outcomes.
