Image of the Month – January 2008

Coexpression of pitx3 and lmx1b.1 in zebrafish neuronal development. Overlapping areas of expression for the transcription factor genes pitx3 and lmx1b.1 in the zebrafish posterior tuberculum at 48 h post fertilization were visualized by confocal microscopy. Double whole-mount fluorescent in situ hybridization was performed using antisense probes for pitx3 (red) and lmx1b.1 (green) with overlapping signal appearing yellow.
