Image of the Month – June 2006

Gene delivery to embryonic intestine using adenoviral vectors. Infection of mouse intestine explants with a LacZ construct-carrying adenoviral vector resulted in β-galactosidase expression (green) in the mesenchyme (top panels). Pretreatment with dispase enhanced β-galactosidase expression by allowing the virus better access to its receptor (bottom panels). Co-expression with E-cadherin (red) verified localization to the epithelium.
