Image of the Month – May 2006

Conditional knockout of the transcription factor GATA6 in mouse intestines. Immunohistochemistry revealed that GATA6 expression was greatly reduced in epithelial cells (arrows) in the intestines of mice carrying a conditional loss-of-function allele of Gata6 (top panel), whereas it was detected as an abundant nuclear protein in control mice (bottom panel).
