Teneurin expression in the chick brain. The widely conserved transmembrane proteins teneurin-1 and teneurin-2 are expressed in complementary regions in the chick brain. This is particularly evident in the nucleus laminaris, where teneurin-2 is expressed in the thick dendritic field of the internal portion of the lamina and teneurin-1 in the thinner external portion. Expression was visualized at E17 by immunostaining using antibodies against teneurin-1 (green) and teneurin-2 (red), and the nuclei were stained with Hoechst (blue).
