The Rice Chromosomes 11 and 12 Sequencing Consortia* BMC Biology 2005, 3:20 (27 September 2005) Analysis of the complete sequences of rice chromosomes 11 and 12, comprising 1/7 of the whole genome, identifies nearly 6000 genes, of which more than 5% are involved in disease resistance or defense, a greater proportion than on other chromosomes.
