Dr. Qing Lan is the Professor and Chairman of Neurosurgical Department of 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Suzhou University. His current research interests include minimally invasive neurosurgery and the basic research on glioma.

What prompted you to submit an article?

Open access journals could make papers get more citations. All interested readers can read, download, and/or print open access articles at no cost! Papers can be read by potentially millions of readers, which is incomparable to publishing in a traditional subscription journal.

What was your assessment of the electronic submission and peer review process?

It is very convenient for us to submit papers electronically; it helps us to save a lot of time and makes the process of review much more quickly. As well, images provided by the authors were always in high quality, which is welcomed by most researchers interested in a similar field. The peer reviews we received were constructive professional and timely. Once accepted publication speed was awesome, the paper was available online immediately and appeared on PubMed within a week.
