MD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, University of Patras School of Medicine
I am Assistant Professor of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Patras School of Medicine in Patras, Greece. I have PhD degree from the University of Athens, Greece, and MPH (Master of Public Health) Degree from St Louis University in St Louis, Missouri, USA. Cardiothoracic Surgery is a very important, evolving field in modern medicine, requires specialized anaesthesia care, and creates many challenges for anaesthesiologists and intensivists. The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Patras has contributed significantly to the well being of the population in the Western part of Greece, and has significant experience in all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery, except transplantation.
In the last three years, we have been increasingly using BioMed Central journals to present our work. This choice is based on a number of factors, including streamlined online submission process, rigorous peer-review, open access, and relatively short time from submission to publication. As our experience while publishing in BioMed Central journals has been excellent, and the benefits of open access to our research are obvious, I intend to continue publishing much of our work through BioMed Central.
