Liqun Lu is a Research Fellow at the Animal Health Biotechnology Unit, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, National University of Singapore. He is developing a vaccine against avian influenza virus using baculovirus surface-display technology, and trying to validate baculovirus-mediated RNAi as an alternative choice to inhibit viral replication.
What prompted you to submit a manuscript to one of BioMed Central's open access journals?
We decided to submit our paper to Virology Journal because it can publish research results quickly and, most important, the papers published in the journal are high quality science.
What was your assessment of the electronic submission and peer review process?
The electronic submission and peer- review process are excellent.
What do you think you gained from publishing in an open access journal?
Publishing in an open access journal will save us some time in meeting requirement(s) to send reprints; and more importantly, people all around the world, especially in developing countries, may benefit from our research results.
