Debashis Ghosh
Associate Professor of Statistics, Penn State, Pennsylvania, USA
Debashis Ghosh primarily works on statistical methods for the design and analysis of functional genomics studies. A key aspect of his work is the idea that biological knowledge should be incorporated into the analysis of high-dimensional data in order to better understand the biology of the system and to reduce possible experimental-specific artifacts.
He is particularly interested in the development of statistical methods for combining data across diverse genomic platforms. His group has been instrumental in developing meta-analysis methods for assessing differential expression across multiple studies. More recently, he has been working on methods and algorithms for combining genomic data of different types.
Scientifically, he has been interested in applying these methods to better understand the etiology of human disease. He has developed a recent interest in fusing the work described in the previous paragraph to clinical and epidemiogical studies.
