Overview of journals published by BioMed Central

The journals published by BioMed Central can be grouped into the following broad categories:

• The BMC series: a group of open access, peer-reviewed research-only journals that spans most areas of biomedicine and are editorially administered by BioMed Central. The flagship titles in this series are BMC Biology and BMC Medicine which are selective and publish high quality research across broad subject areas.
• Independent journals: a group of open access, peer-reviewed research and review journals that are editorially administered by academic Editors-in-Chief.
• Journals with subscription content: a group of journals that additionally contain non-research content (reviews, commentaries, reports) available through subscription whilst still offering open access to their research content.
