IHMT is a NOVA University Lisbon (UNL) Unit, with a strong research and development component recently congregated in a new R&D FCT Centre – GHTM (Global Health and Tropical Medicine. GHTM brings together researchers with a track record in Tropical Medicine and International/Global Health and aims at tackling neglected and emerging diseases under a multidisciplinary approach and covering aspects from basic biomedical research to public health policies. IHMT has been at the forefront of research on tropical diseases, often within networks and partnership projects, warranting IHMT a strong international presence. GHTM aims at strengthening Portugal's role as a leading partner in the development and implementation of a global health research agenda. Our evidence-based interventions contribute to the promotion of equity in health and to improve the health of populations.
