Precision and recall plots of each stage, in prediction of CRC stages of samples in GSE14333 in a 10-fold cross validation framework are shown in (a) and (b) respectively, with respect to different values of the network distance parameter ℓ, as well as the PPI-free approach. Setting ℓ = 3 provides the best performance for most of the cancer stages in terms of both precision and recall, also providing a smaller search space compared to ℓ = 4 and the PPI-free approach.
