The authors have previously noted punctate signals in cervical condylomas in mid-/superficial layers [2], and Huang et al. [14] have also reported punctate signals deep in the basal layers of a laryngeal papilloma. B. Diffuse and punctate signals are evident however background staining that includes 'punctate' signals at nuclei circumferences and associated with cytoplasm compromises data interpretation.
