Competency, confidence and conflicting evidence: key issues affecting health visitors' use of research evidence in practice

Research controversy over childhood immunization, coupled with time restraints, are major obstacles for health visitors in providing reliable advice to parents, suggesting that the provision of already-appraised research would aid their response to public concerns.
