Effect of pretreatment with NPY receptor antagonists on fasted motor activity of the colon induced by centrally (ICV) and peripherally (IP) administered ghrelin. BIBP-3226, which is a selective NPY Y1 receptor antagonist, injected ICV antagonizes the stimulation of colonic transit induced by ghrelin injected in the same route and IP. The NPY Y2 receptor antagonist BIIE-2046 injected ICV fails to affect the stimulated colonic motoractivity induced by ICV or IP injection of ghrelin.
