Germination analysis of Wt and sbe1a mutant kernels. The lengths of the emerged coleoptiles were measured on successive days during the incubation period¹. Starch content in the germinating endosperm was quantified at Day 1, 6, 8, 11, and percentage of starch content at each day against the dry weight of Day 1 kernels was plotted¹. ¹Each data point is mean ± standard error of measurements of kernels from three biological replications. As 2 kernels were removed at Day 1, 6, 8, 11 for quantifying starch content, 15, 13, 11, and 9 kernels from three biological replications were used for coleoptile measurement Day 1, 2-6, 7-8, 9-11, respectively. Comparison between two genotypes for each day was made by one-way ANOVA analysis and a significant difference was marked by an asterisk (p < 0.05).
