Increased synaptic microtubules and altered synapse development in Drosophila sec8 mutants

Faith LW Liebl, Kaiyun Chen, Julie Karr, Qi Sheng, David E Featherstone BMC Biology 2005, 3:27 (13 December 2005)

The neuromuscular junctions of sec8 knock-out fruit fly larvae have more branches and presynaptic terminals and an increased synaptic microtubule density, suggesting that this exocyst component controls synaptic microtubule formation, and is not required for neurite or synaptic terminal growth.
