photosynthesis is constrained by the Great Oxidation Event (2.3 Ga) whereas the maximum
time for the origin of life is constrained by the origin of Earth (4.5 Ga). Horizontal
lines indicate credibility intervals, white boxes indicate minimum and maximum time
constraints on the origin of a metabolism or event, and colored boxes indicate the
presence of the metabolism or event.
