(low or high) on the relationship between ω = dN/dS and RSA. Only the fitted lines are shown. Surprisingly, for low-expression genes, small-core
proteins evolve faster than larger-core proteins. This relationship is reversed in
a larger dataset obtained with less-stringent criteria (see text).
