mRNA expression levels of endocrine and exocrine markers. Insulin, chromogranin, SUR1, PCSK1, PCSK2, glucagon, and amylase were measured by Real-time RT-PCR reaction using SYBR^® Green Dye reagent (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, USA). All reactions were performed in triplicates (n = 4 independent experiments). The relative expression of a target gene was determined in comparison to a reference gene (HPRT). In addition H-MBS mRNA-expression level was used as a positive control for similar expression levels between cell lines and human islets.
