Compounds 1 and 2 inhibit in vivo angiogenesis in the CAM assay (see below for method). (I) methylcellulose alone showed no evidence of angiogenesis or inflammation, (II) FGF-2 induced a network of new blood vesselsradiating from the site of application (arrow), (III) and (IV) compounds 1 and 2 (10 μg) alone again showed no inflammatory or angiogenic response at the site of application. (V) and (VI) When compounds I and 2 (10 μg) were added together with FGF-2 there was complete inhibition of blood vessel formation.
