The number of records that two objects co-occur in is loosely correlated with their mutual information. Objects co-occurring in MEDLINE records with "capsaicin" are shown in this graph sorted in descending order by their log₂ MIM score (see Equation 1), which is plotted on the central axis. The number of records they co-occur within is displayed as vertical bars. Note that a good proportion of objects can co-occur many times, yet at the same time have a negative mutual information measure.
